Vacation Map 2021

Decree-Law 22-A/2021 of March 17 determined that the approval and posting of the vacation map by April 15 may take place until May 15, so employers must prepare and post the 2021 vacation map by the respective date.

Vacation scheduling must be done by agreement between employer and employee. If there is no agreement, the employer is responsible (in the absence of a collective bargaining agreement to the contrary) for drawing up the vacation map.

- Workers are entitled to 22 working days of vacation per year. In the year of hiring, the worker is entitled to 2 working days of vacation for each month of the contract's duration, up to 20 days, and which can be taken after 6 full months of contract execution;
- The vacation period can be staggered, by agreement between employer and employee, provided that at least 10 consecutive working days are taken;
- Spouses, or people in a de facto union/common economy, working in the same company or establishment, are entitled to take vacation in the same period, unless there is serious damage to the company.

The vacation map must be posted at the workplace(s) between the deadline for posting and October 31.

Failure to display the vacation map is punishable by a fine, so don't make it easy!
