Management and Analyze Department: An Interview to the department manager
The Management and Analyze Department offer, at this moment, a service available to companies of a certain dimension. 1. How was to embrace the challenge to develop a management and analyze department, in a company which the core business is accountability? This department was developed by initiative and according to the vision from Domingos Salvador management team, once that, it was recognized the need to be more personal with the client. This department reflects the demand for continuous improvement and the constant focus on the client, therefore it is: a step-forward to differentiate from the competitors. The department’ development has the objective to work the accountability that is made on Domingos Salvador, later all the information is translated for a simpler language, that helps the client on decision-making process. In fact, in the beginning was quite a challenge, because I didn’t know how to start the process. However, I researched which are the companies’ needs, and by that I was able to elaborate and design a prototype for maps and reports. Initially, the majorities of the reports developed by the department were supervised by Domingos Salvador Administration. Yet, with time, the department was assuming bigger responsibilities and began to develop a more direct contact with the client. 2.Which are the biggest challenges with integrating a new department in the accountability area? When I joined the Domingos Salvador’ team, I knew right at the start that I wasn’t going to do accountability. Therefore, one of the biggest difficulties was, initially, not understanding totally the accounting process. Thus, I can affirm that one of the biggest challenges was to develop an “accounting vision”, and to achieve that I felt the need to ask support to my co-workers. In the other hand, this department is reliant on the information given by the accountants, and the same information is also dependent from the resources given by the clients to the accountants. Consequently, it is always a challenge to establish deadlines and deliver the information updated. 3. How was the reaction of the clients to this new service? At this moment, there are diverse opinions. Nevertheless, the clients’ majority has been giving a very positive feedback, they even contact us by telephone or by email, to understand and explore a bit more these reports, and by that way, they can maximize the information given. 4. Can we affirm that the Management and Analyze Department translates the account information into simpler information, empowering a better understanding about the business’ accounting situation? Indeed, I believe so. From the moment that our clients are educated to understand the maps/reports, this is, without a doubt, a tool that helps to design middle-long term strategy, that is accurate with the organization’ current state
